First, go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound and click the Add a device option below Devices and Printers. If Windows doesn't find the webcam, click the What if Windows doesn't find my device? button and check the troubleshooting guide. Also, right-click the My Computer/Computer icon, select Manage and go to Device Manager. Right-click the drivers from Imaging Devices section, select Update Driver Software and use the Browse option to navigate to the installation package. Select the downloaded driver and install it following the provided instructions. If the problem is not solved, try to run the utility provided my Microsoft. As a final solution, you can install another webcam capture utility from Software Informer database.

I'm using an MSI notebook. I tried to take a picture using webcam but couldn't. It says camera not found. I've downloaded software from the Internet too, Magic Camera. The software says it must be purchased but I wanted a free application.

Before you try to use the webcam, make sure that the MSI notebook is equipped with a webcam. You can check if there is one on the middle margin of the lid. If it does have a webcam, you need to make sure it is installed properly in Device Manager. Use the support CD with drivers, then you can use it in your favorite application.
